In the prototype, water cranes with articulated arms were frequently encountered on platforms at exit tracks. The reason for such a location was obvious: had the steam locomotive of a run-in train water, so the locomotive was not always exactly at a water crane to a halt.
Retrofitting or resetting would have increased the risk for incoming and outgoing travelers.
By the articulated boom a certain length compensation was given to bring the nozzle to the filling opening of the water tank in the Loktender without the train had to start.
The models also have an additional pedestal with stairs to compensate for the height difference between tracks with ballast and model railroads.
